Aims
The Aims of Luton and Dunstable Prostate Support Group are:
- Improve the wellbeing of prostate cancer patients.
- Raise awareness of prostate cancer in the general population and help with earlier detection.
Luton and Dunstable Prostate Support Group will primarily operate for those in Luton and Dunstable and surrounding areas (roughly the catchment area of Luton and Dunstable Hospital – Luton, South Bedfordshire and parts of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire).
Funding
We are a small and very frugal organisation, and have no paid staff or contractors. We don't have any regular funding sources. Our costs are primarily our domain name, email, and phone line. Tackle kindly gave us a grant to have a professional leaflet for patients designed with an initial print run in May 2022, and both Prostate Cancer UK and Tackle have provided us with a Zoom licence at different times.
We would love to have more funding to reprint our leaflet for patients and to have our awaress leaflet printed. If you are able to support us in doing this, that would be fantastic - please get in touch support@ldpsg.org.uk.
Membership
Membership is open to
- Prostate cancer patients, including those in remission.
- Patients referred for investigation of possible prostate cancer, during their referral and diagnosis.
- Men with other persistent prostate diseases or persistent lower urinary tract symptoms.
- Clinicians working in these areas.
Membership is free.
Founded
Luton and Dunstable Prostate Support Group was started by Andrew Gabriel in January 2021, in discussion with the clinicial nurse specialists at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
